What happens when the life you were taught to live no longer feels like your own?
Good Little Greek Girl is a deeply honest memoir about breaking silence, questioning inherited roles, and reclaiming identity after years of self-sacrifice, people-pleasing, and survival.
This book is an invitation to stop enduring, and begin living.
Written in her forties, Eleni shares her journey as a first-generation Australian-born Greek woman raised within strict expectations, unspoken rules, and emotionally complex family dynamics. From an early age, she learned to suppress her needs, her voice, and her truth in order to belong, not because her culture was wrong, but because generational trauma, silence, and obligation left little space for selfhood.
This book explores the unseen cost of being the “good girl, obedient, capable, endlessly giving, while slowly losing connection to oneself".
Good Little Greek Girl is not a story of blame or bitterness. It is a story of awakening. Through self-reflection, deep inner work, and the love she holds for her daughter, Eleni begins to unravel the narratives that shaped her life. She chooses to step out of survival and become the woman her younger self once needed.
This book is for anyone who grew up feeling responsible for everyone else, learned to stay quiet to keep the peace, struggled with people-pleasing or guilt, or felt disconnected from who they truly are. It speaks to those who are ready to say “enough,” break generational patterns, and choose authenticity over approval.
Good Little Greek Girl is both a mirror and a lifeline, a testament to resilience, self-honesty, and the radical act of choosing to live with integrity. It is a journey from endurance to embodiment, from surviving to finally living.
